Arabic Language and Literature is one of the study programs under the Faculty of Humanities, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. This program is based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education Number: E/107/1998 dated May 13, 1998, concerning the implementation of the Department of Adab/Language of the Arabic Language and Literature Study Program.

Arabic Language and Literature study program has obtained accreditation A for four periods from BAN-PT Institution (National Accreditation Board-University): In 2007 based on BAN-PT Decree Number: 013/BAN-PT/AK- X/S1VI/2007, in 2013 based on BAN-PT Decree Number: 010/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-XV/S/I/2013, in 2018, based on BAN-PT Decree Number: 1538/SK /BAN-PT/Akred/S/VI/2018, and in 2023, based on BAN-PT Decree Number: 1956/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.Ppj/S/V/2023.

In August 2024, the Arabic language and literature study program submitted an accreditation conversion from A accreditation to excellent accreditation to BAN-PT (National Accreditation Board-University) and after passing the assessment process, the Arabic language study program received excellent accreditation based on BAN-PT Decree Number: 6962/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.KP/S/XII/2024.

The Arabic Language and Literature Study Program has been developed six professional fields, namely teaching, translation, tourism, journalism, film, and foreign diplomacy. The development of these six fields is based on tracer study results, recommendations from alumni, graduates, and partners of the Arabic Language and Literature Study Program.

Since established, the program has continued to strive to gain recognition and reputation from international accreditation institutions. This is in line with the roadmap of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim in 2021-2030 – International Recognition and Reputation. As a result, it succeeded in getting recognition from an international institution, AUN-QA (Asian University Network-Quality Assurance) on November 2020 based on AUN-QA Decree Number: AP551UINMALANGOCT20, and in 2022 it is expecting accreditation from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA).
